Pigmen have the same height with zombie pigmen, Zombies, Humans and the player.
On the other hand, Zombie Pigman is a very old mob (added in Alpha v1.2 in October of 2010, which is when the Nether itself was added) and because of that, it has gained the reputation of an iconic mob.
